Take a cultural mini break

The Italian designed Londa Hotel epitomises the metamorphosis of Limassol, a former fishing village, into a sophisticated city where the locals are known for enjoying a good time. This summer the award-winning* Londa is offering a special lifestyle mini break for lovers of culture and style as a base to explore the delights of southern Cyprus.

Dubbed a mini-Miami by many for its vibrant nightlife, great shopping and stylish cultural centre in the old town around the medieval castle, Limassol is more than just a tourist destination. Among the many festivals, concerts and theatre productions held across the summer months, the annual wine festival hosted in Limassol at the end of August is also a great reason to visit this area.

Located bang on the beach and yet close to the attractions of the city, the Londa Hotel is the choice for anyone who enjoys modern design and discreet, attentive service. This summer the Londa is offering is a special lifestyle package for five nights for two people designed to make the most of the city’s culture, shopping and nightlife, including a taxi transfer to the centre of Limassol where the wine festival takes place in the Municipal Gardens.

The Wine Festival Limassol is Cyprus’ wine-growing capital, and celebrates the country’s rich viticulture with the annual grape harvest festival this year from August 28 – September 6. Scores of the island’s wineries and vineyards converge on the town’s Municipal Gardens where, after paying a small entry fee, visitors can try wine free from the barrel. The carnival atmosphere recreates the Greek tradition of the Dionysiac celebrations, when all inhabitants of Attica sat at common banquets and tasted the new wines and participated in mass dances, songs, and poetry and drama performances. During these celebrations a number of slaves were set free, whilst those still in slavery were allowed a spell of independence and entertainment. Today free banquets and free wine are available, but thankfully there are no slaves to free, just perhaps the chance to be free of every day life.

The Londa Hotel’s unique approach to customer service originates from what it calls a “Moments at Londa” philosophy which is based on a multitude of tailor-made services. The result is a guest experience of the highest quality. General Manager Jochen Niemann and his team aim to create wonderful memories for the hotel’s residents which are complemented by the property’s modern, contemporary interior design. This combination creates a unique lifestyle experience for the traveller which has contributed to the hotel receiving the World Travel Awards’ accolade of “Mediterranean’s leading Boutique Hotel” in 2008.
