The Londa’s 2010 Employee of the Year Award goes to Odysseus

Employee of the Year

The Londa’s 2010 Employee of the Year Award goes to Odysseus – it’s been quite a journey!

Odysseus Hadjixenophontos, the Londa Hotel’s 2010 Employee of the Year, says he “would not change a thing” about his life at this contemporary ultra-chic boutique hotel, quite an accolade after almost 30 years as the Londa’s senior maintenance engineer. Recently honoured by the Hotel’s department managers for his more than 25 years of professional, loyal and dedicated service, Odysseus adds “I became engaged the year I began working here; you could say I’ve been married to my job as long as my wife!”

Odyseus was the first technician employed by the hotel when it opened its doors to its very first guests in October 1982. “I remember a very different Londa Hotel before the major upgrade and refurbishment programme of 2005. My job is definitely easier now…” Modern equipment, new products, better communication and technology all make for a more streamlined, stress free working day for Odysseus, who shares the maintenance role with a ‘partner.’ “We’re a team here, all working together… we still receive guests today who visited us all those years ago when we first opened. To me, being at the Londa is not just a job, it’s my second family.”

Unique on the island, the Italian designer styled property has become the uber-cool ‘in’ place to see and be seen in Limassol; its high style, relaxed, warm informality and impeccable service lures international and local business professionals ‘back home’ again and again. General Manager Jochen Niemann added “It’s an honour to know staff are happy to stay with us for so many years; Odysseus has been an integral part of the Londa team and I hope he continues to be with us for many more years to come.”
