Fancy getting out and seeing something different on your Limassol holiday? Londa Hotel gives you the line-up of the best events and places to visit for June 2014.
Cyprus on wheels
In pole position is the brand new Cyprus Historic and Classic Motor Museum in Limassol Castle Square, with hundreds of cars including some real celebrities like Mr Bean’s Mini and Margaret Thatcher’s Rover; all this for just 7 euro.
From four wheels to two; on Tuesdays throughout the summer you can join an historic coastal cycling tour from Amathus to Kourion: 40km over 5.5 hours covering a minimum of 6 iconic sites of Cyprus all for 45 euro including cycle and helmet hire and run by English tour guides from Bikin’ Cyprus Adventures (call +357 99694900).
Keeping it local
Some of the most exciting and easiest events running throughout June have been organised by the local tourism associations, and better still, most are free! Every Monday you can join a walking tour to see the ancient and the modern aspects of the wonderful city of Limassol starting from the CTO office at 10am. On ‘Free Thursday’ you can get into the Folk Art Museum, Pattihio Municipal Museum, Limassol Municipal Art Gallery and the Theatre Museum all at no charge, and here’s something a little different, free Pottery making at Peftasteri Workshop, 11.30 and 12.30 on Thursdays, just call +357 99951414.
There are 2 Cyprus villages on the June agenda. The bus leaves the Old Hospital station on Wednesdays at 10am travelling 26km to Lofou, hailed as one of the prettiest villages in the Limassol hills. Stop for lunch and return just after 3pm, all for a 3 euro bus fare. The same timetable and price applies to Friday’s excursion to Omodos to see the Church of the Holy Cross, winemaking, museums and excellent tavernas.
Arts & culture
June’s programme of dance and arts is truly incredible with 60 members of the Russian State Kremlin Ballet performing ‘Figaro’ for the first time ever outside of Russia. Hosted by The Municipal Gardens Theatre, Limassol for 2 nights only, Friday 27 June and Saturday 28 June, you can get tickets from the Theatre (25588694) or online at www.tickethour.com.cy.
Equally spectacular is the premiere of ‘Under the Sky of Tango’ performed at the ancient theatre of Kourion on 6 June by artists of the Moscow Fine Arts Ballet and leading young soloists of the Young Russian Ballet Theatre with the leading role taken by a dancer from Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow (Order tickets by phone: 99236057).
Other events in June are the 17th European Contemporary Dance Festival and on 7 June is the exciting charity classical music gala concert ‘Stars at Kourion’ at the ancient amphitheatre of Kourion.
As you can see, a host of events await you. Please do not hesitate to ask our Londa Reception or office for assistance in booking tickets; we are here to make your Cyprus holiday exceptional.
