Seduction, passion and rhythm
Hernan Romero, Grammy Awards Winner and nominee for 2012 best solo pop performance, is on his European Tour ‘Strings and Air’ and is giving an intimate acoustic performance at Londa Hotel. He will let lose his passion of flamenco-gypsy, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean folk, interwoven with textures of classical, jazz, and Latin rhythms – all from the sensuous vibrating strings of his guitar.
Alongside a significant solo career, Romero is famed for his collaboration with Al Di Meola, resulting in many albums including Orange and Blue (Rhino Records, 1994), and The Infinite Desire (Telarc, 1998). Romero also formed a group called Conosur with Tony Viscardo, he has worked with Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin, plus recording with Alicia Keys the song Rear View Mirror for the film Doctor Doolittle 2. Romero’s CD, Duende, hit number 6 on the Billboard charts (World Music) and his album 2 Caras de una Moneda features his mother, Grammy Lifetime Achievement awarded singer Estela Raval, and Jerry Marotta from Peter Gabriel’s band.
Playing with Hernan is previous Londa favourite, Kęstutis Vaiginis, one of the best Eastern European Saxophone players. Hailing from Lithuania, Vaiginis now lives in Limassol but plays across the world.
He has appeared in many jazz festivals including North Sea Jazz, Rotterdam Jazz, Breda Jazz, Cape Town Jazz, Ottawa Jazz, Hong Kong Jazz, London Jazz, Istanbul Jazz and Jamboree Jazz. After numerous international awards, in 2013 Vaiginis was presented by President Joachim Gauck, the Europamusicale Music Prize.
