Carnival Week and Clean Monday at Londa Hotel

Join us at Londa Hotel for Carnival Week and Clean Monday

Move over Rio, its Carnival time in Cyprus and the excitement is mounting; children are choosing their fancy dress costumes, adults are getting the kites out, families are arranging where to go for Clean Monday and friends are practising their dance steps for the Grand Parade.

There is no better place to celebrate Carnival in Cyprus than in Limassol, home of the parade. The festivities start on Shrove Thursday (7.00pm on 20 February) with the King of Carnival escorted through the streets by choirs, bands and majorettes. All week children enjoy activities and the Grand Parade is all day on 2 March.

For Cypriots, this week is an important preface to Lent with Clean Monday, or Green Monday as many call it, being the commencement of the fasting period. For visitors, this is the ideal opportunity to discover age-old traditions and join in the party.

For us at Londa, it’s the chance to invite everyone to the Caprice Terrace for pre or post Carnival drinks and for an amazing Green Monday Buffet Lunch on 3 March at Caprice Restaurant. Our chefs are busy sourcing the very best ingredients; a selection that not only abides by the ‘no meat’ rule but is totally mouth-watering in taste and presentation. Come and enjoy the healthiest buffet lunch with our renowned Caprice five-star service. Or maybe you would prefer a platter of Cuttlefish or Fresh Fish caught in Cyprus waters and shared amongst your friends.

It’s time to don your masks, dance in the streets, and raise a toast to happy days, good food and great company – Let the Carnival begin!
