Whiskey Tasting Delights in Our Cyprus Restaurant
The Londa Beach Hotel has a reputation for hosting fabulous events and our recent fine dining and whiskey tasting extravaganza was no exception. On Friday 20th May we delighted guests with our fusion of al-fresco Cyprus fine dining and a taste of some of the best whiskeys in the world, from our friends at Scotland’s historic Glenlivet distillery. The ‘Whiskey and Food Flirt’ was a great success, with a 4 course gourmet dinner provided by our Cyprus restaurant’s award-winning chef, Patric Steklmacher.
Our ‘Whiskey and Food Flirt’ night saw us leave the surroundings of our stylish Cyprus restaurant, the Caprice and instead invite diners to enjoy the warm evening in the Londa Pool-Bar. The night was started off with a little whiskey tasting in the shape of a delicious cocktail, consisting of 12 year old Glenlivet, cranberry, passion fruit puree and lime juice. After this delicious introduction to the evening, the fine dining commenced; the Glenlivet 15 year old French Oak Reserve was served alongside iberico de bellota ham and smoked duck breast with redcurrant and fig jam – the combination of these flavours with the fruit and spice interplay of the whiskey was a mouth-watering combination.
Fine Dining in Cyprus
The fine dining and whiskey experience continued with an 18 year old Glenlivet, a sublime symphony of luscious concentrated fruit and floral fragrance. This was served with an orange marinated tuna fish loin, liquorice and ginger glaze along with beetroot cured salmon. These luxurious flavours where then followed by a main course of herb baked fillet of venison with fennel and foie gras Willima and chocolate glaze, which set off perfectly the next item on the whiskey tasting agenda — the 21 year old Glenlivet Archive, a special limited edition offering depth and multi-layers of fruits and floral sweetness, with an almost creamy texture.
The highlight of our fine dining and whiskey tasting was the beautiful Glenlivet XXV, the oldest permanent release in the range, finished in first fill sherry butts, giving a nutty spiciness to the multi-layered flavour and an enriched colour. The accompanying fine dining course was one of our Cyprus restaurant chef’s delectable desserts – a pear and carob mascarpone cream.
Our Cyprus Restaurant Fine Dining And Whiskey Tasting Was The Perfect Combination
The rare opportunity that our whiskey tasting evening presented was hugely appreciated by participants and the addition of the quality fine dining was the perfect accompaniment. We even had a guest appearance from Mr Theodorou from the ‘Big Smoke’ company, who gave us an insight into the making of cigars during the evening’s events.
